Student Transfers

  • Welcome to the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ student transfer page. This page will provide information and applications for those families looking to attend a school that is not their resident school. To find your resident school, . A transfer does not need to be submitted to attend your resident school. Please visit your resident school office for enrollment information.


  • Follow the steps below to be directed to the correct application. Submitting an incorrect application will cause a delay in processing and could result in the request being canceled.

    1. Do you live within the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Union School District boundaries?
      • Yes: Go to Step 2
      • No: Go to Step 3
    2. Does your student currently attend a CVUSD school?
      1. Yes:
        • . (You will need your parent portal Pin & Password. If you do not have this information, please contact your student's current school and they will be able to provide this information.)
        • Click on "Student Transfer" located on the left side of the screen below your student's name.
        • In the main section to the right, click on "Click Here to submit a transfer request."
        • Complete and submit the transfer application.
      2. No:
          • Complete and submit the transfer application.
    3.  Families that live outside CVUSD boundaries:

Completed applications will need to be printed, signed then emailed to ESP@cajonvalley.net or brought in person to the Long Range Planning Department, located at 750 E. Main Street, Room 8, El Cajon, CA 92020 between 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday - Friday (Excluding Holidays)

Notification Timelines

  • Current School Year Applications:

    Notifications for applications submitted for the current school year are usually emailed within 14 days from the date the application is received. Processing may take up to 30 days during peak periods.

    Following School Year Applications:

    The application period is December 15 - February 1 for the following school year. Submittal during this period greatly increases the likelihood of approval. Determination notifications for timely applications will be emailed no later than May 1st.

    We will make every effort to accommodate late applications, but determination of space availability will likely take longer.

FAQs

  • Are you accepting applications for the current school year?

    Yes, however the transfer period for each school year is December 15th through February 1st.  Applications received after the February 1st deadline may be added to a waiting list in the order received.

    How do I submit my Interdistrict application?

    We are currently accepting paper or scanned PDF versions of the Interdistrict Attendance Permit (Transfer Application). You may email your student's application to ESP@cajonvalley.net or bring it in person to the Enrollment Services Department, located at 750 E. Main St, Room 8, El Cajon, CA 92020 between the hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm Mon-Fri (excluding holidays)

    If approved, is transportation provided by СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Union School District?

    No, the parent/guardian is responsible for transporting their child to and from the approved school.

    Interdistrict Transfer Process

    1. The Interdistrict Attendance Permit (Transfer Application) must be signed off by the resident district, releasing the student to attend СÀ¶ÊÓƵ.
    2. Interdistrict Attendance Permits are to be submitted to the desired district, either in person or via email to ESP@cajonvalley.net.

    Intradistrict Transfer Process

    Parents must apply online by February 1st, through the Parent Portal.

    1. In order to apply, please visit, www.parentportal.cajonvalley.net
    2. Log in
    3. Select the student
    4. Select Student Transfer
    5. Complete and submit the application
    6. Decisions will be sent via email from the District by May 1st, for applications received by the February 1st deadline.

    What is an Interdistrict Attendance Permit (Transfer Application)?

    An Interdistrict Attendance Permit (Transfer) is required for students residing outside of the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Union School District boundaries and are requesting to attend a school within the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Union School District boundaries.

    What is an Intradistrict Transfer?

    An Intradistrict Transfer is required for students that reside within the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Union School District boundaries and are requesting to attend a school that is not their resident school but is within the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Union School District boundaries.

    When will I receive a decision?

    Decisions regarding transfer applications submitted by deadline (by February 1st) will be emailed by May 1st.
    Applications without an email address provided will be delayed in processing until an email address can be acquired.
