СÀ¶ÊÓƵ has a vision that unites our community - Happy Kids, in Healthy Relationships, on a path to Gainful Employment.  This vision honors each child’s path and focuses on preparing all children to thrive in their future.

 

СÀ¶ÊÓƵ graduates need to be college/career ready, and the community has voiced that schools are not adequately preparing students with the skills they need to succeed. This begs the question, what are the skills needed to be happy, to maintain healthy relationships, and to be gainfully employed? What skills are durable and needed to thrive in the rapidly changing world of work?

 

CVUSD has asked partners across the community to define the skills that are essential to each child thriving in their future. The district set a goal to hear from 50% of staff, 10% of students, and 5% of families as well as hearing from local community members, business partners, higher education institutions, and СÀ¶ÊÓƵ graduates.

 

To date, СÀ¶ÊÓƵ has heard from over 2,500 students, staff, families, and business owners. Over 15,000 of the most important skills have been suggested and are driving the process forward. The road to creating a Portrait of a Graduate will continue to be driven by the voices СÀ¶ÊÓƵ serves - students, staff, families, and community members.

Each СÀ¶ÊÓƵ student brings their unique strengths and interests to their classrooms everyday. Often, our traditional metrics don’t show the full story of each student. In СÀ¶ÊÓƵ, our vision is “Happy Kids, in Healthy Relationships, on the Path to Gainful Employment.”

СÀ¶ÊÓƵ needs your voice, input, and perspective to build a Portrait of a Graduate. A Portrait of a Graduate, or POG, is a set of skills and mindsets necessary for every СÀ¶ÊÓƵ student to develop. These skills and mindsets make up a collective vision for student success to ensure all students have the skills needed to be happy, maintain healthy relationships, and be on their unique path to gainful employment.
