Welcome to the speech and language program at Fuerte! I look forward to getting to know your child and working with you to ameliorate his/her communication skills.

A little about how I got here...I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (so I always appreciate our perfect San Diego weather and ,yes, that is the reason I sometimes say weird words like “gumband” instead of “rubberband”). I earned my B.A. in Corporate Communication at Duquesne University. I also studied abroad at the College International De Cannes- France which inspired me to delve deeper into the field of linguistics. I finished my Masters of Education in Communication Disorders at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville where I practiced speech-language pathology in the hospital setting, private clinics and the public school system. Once I discovered my love for having fun in structured, play-based therapy with all kids I moved to San Diego with my husband in 2005 where I initially earned my Clinical Certificate of Competence (CCC) with the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) to officially work as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)....SLPs like acronyms.

This is my fourteenth year providing speech-language therapy in California schools. My career has taken me back and forth across the district and the state. I worked at Blossom Valley Elementary for my first seven years in CVUSD, then moved to the Bay Area and spent two years at an International Baccalaureate elementary school and middle school in LVJUSD. I came back to 小蓝视频 in 2014 to work at Sevick Preschool for one year before landing at my favorite place- right here! I am married-we have two boys of our own, Ari (5) @ Fuerte, Eli (3) @ Silverman Preschool, two Himalayan cats, Abby & Yogi….and I really love Golden Retrievers. When I’m not at school I’m watching my kids play soccer, hanging out at the beach, hiking, running, shopping and traveling. I am excited to get to know your child and your family! Together we can inspire our students to actualize excellent communication skills!
