Hi! My name is Melissa Shanahan and I am the Program Facilitator at Naranca Elementary School. I received my Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies from SDSU as well as my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I also earned my Masters Degree from SDSU with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. This is my 16th year at Naranca! I taught in the classroom for 14 years, and recently moved to the facilitator position.

In my role, I facilitate the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the Title 1 and English learner programs on our site. This includes organizing and implementing intervention programs for our most at-risk students, developing workshops/trainings for parents in our community, as well as serving as a liaison between schools, departments, and outside community programs.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling the world! My favorite places I have visited are South Africa and Egypt! I was born and raised in San Diego, so you will almost always find me spending time with family and friends. I love coffee, the beach, and chips/salsa!
